At Bariatric Technologies, we’re committed to building more than just high-performance support garments—we’re building a movement rooted in care, innovation, and community. That’s why we were excited to attend the Ecom North’s Toronto Summit on September 23–24, 2025—a premier event for eCommerce founders, marketers, and operators ready to scale boldly and sustainably.
As a growing Canadian start-up, we’re designing a transformational product that supports individuals living with excess skin and tissue after significant weight loss. But innovation doesn’t stop at product design. We also need to learn how to reach and serve our community across Canada, the U.S., and beyond. That’s where Ecom North came in.
Why We Went
We joined Ecom North to:

What We Learned
Here are some of the key takeaways that resonated with us:

One of the most powerful messages from the summit was the importance of authentic storytelling. Brands that connect deeply with their audience through real, lived experiences build trust and loyalty. This was affirming for us—because the story of Bariatric Technologies is rooted in lived experiences, compassion, and a desire to serve a growing community. Our journey is your journey.
2. Social Platforms Are the New Storefronts
Platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and even AR/VR environments are no longer just for marketing—they’re becoming primary sales channels. Live shopping and partnerships with affiliates are driving real conversions. We’re excited to explore these platforms to share our story and connect with our community in new, meaningful ways.
3. Influencer & Affiliate Strategy Is About Connection
We learned that successful influencer marketing isn’t just about reach—it’s about authentic connection. Building relationships with ambassadors who genuinely use and believe in our products is key. We’re proud to be working with individuals who are passionate about sharing how our garments support their lives.
4. AI-Driven Personalization Is the Future
From predictive analytics to generative AI, personalization is becoming essential. We’re exploring how to use these tools to create tailored experiences for our customers—from product recommendations to conversational support.
