Dr. Mary Forhan (PhD), CEO and Founder

Thank you for visiting Bariatric Technologies. I founded this company to bring innovative solutions that promote quality of life for people living with obesity. For over 30 years I have been working with people living with obesity in my roles as an occupational therapist and a rehabilitation scientist and as past Scientific Director of Obesity Canada. My contributions have been recognized with awards from Obesity Canada, the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and McMaster University.

Through my clinical practice and research, I have met hundreds of people who are living with excess skin and tissue associated with significant weight loss resulting from treatment for obesity. Functional assessments and personal accounts of my patients and research participants describe challenges with the movements of everyday life including walking and, reports of a fear of falling and, pain in their hips, knees and back. The search for non-surgical solutions to manage loose skin and tissue uncovered a gap in the market... until now.

I look forward to bringing a range of high-performance apparel solutions, direct to consumers,  that will give people control of their bodies and the comfort and confidence to “live while losing”
